What are we going to do with this recession?

You've probably noticed that we're in times of recession now. Many companies need to lay off people because they can't afford it anymore. The fact that people don't spend a lot of money because they are "trying" to save doesn't help the recession at all. Wouldn't it be better if some companies would go bankrupt? The classical liberalism theory describes that when demand goes down, the product, and even the company should pull them out of the industry.

Why don't we do that? It's more complicated than we think. Lets say, for example they would close a car company because the demand for those cars is decreasing. Think about how many other industries would suffer from closing down one car company? Like the industry who designs and delivers all the materials in order to make the cars and many other industries. Will they go bankrupt too? The Government understands the system of Classical Liberalism, but they are afraid for the result of their actions. Imagine that the Classical Liberalism theory is just a theory and wouldn't work out as they've planned. We could go into a depression which would be even worse for us than the economic crisis is now.

How fast can technology go?

Technology in the past and present!

Technology is improving at an impressive speed. Think about how our lives were 10 years ago. The difference between then and now is incredible.

I agree that we need all the technology we can get to improve our society and living standard. Some situations are just going to far with technology. I'm talking especially about sports. Think about how the Olympic Games were in the 1950s. Every athlete was wearing the same sort of outfit, doping wasn't a big part of sports yet,...

I'm saying this because yesterday I received my LZR Racer suit from Speedo. The LZR is the world's fastest suit, it improves your performance by 20-30percent in comparison with a normal suit. While I was trying it on, which took me about 40min, I was thinking: " why can't we all stay in the old swimsuits? Why do we need to put all our effort in a suit that doesn't even stretch out?" Let me tell you, you're exhausted after those 4o minutes. I know the suit will make us go faster, but it's not fair for the countries who are not sponsored by speedo, or countries that don't have the financial aid to afford the suits. They have a disadvantage because they don't have a suit like the LZR Racer. I know that the other companies are trying to create the same suit by using different materials, but still it's not the same effect.

Wouldn't everything be a lot easier if we all would swim in the normal, old fashion, bathing suits. I realize that the world records would become a little bit slower, but so what? The person who swam the record would still be the fastest swimmer on earth, with or without the LZR racer. This all would make our lives easier and less stressful. The suits are expensive, about 500 dollars a piece, you have a maximum result during the first 5 times you use it. Don't forget the fact that it takes an average swimmer about 30 minutes to put it on and it can rip so easily.

I wanted to start of my blog with one of my favorite commercials from Belgium. This is a commercial for high speed internet. I think Belgacom did an good job putting a scene up with older people. Everybody stereotypes retired people as slow, therefore Belgacom saw an opportunity in this situation, and created a commercial that got really popular back home. Belgacom achieved what they wanted to do, entertain people but still inform them of their qualities. Some people might think it's cheezy but I actually enjoyed it.
