creativity is just not for me!

I really enjoyed this class, but i realised that creative advertising is not going to be for me. It's not that I wouldn't like it, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be good enough. It's so time consuming and right now I don't really have the time. I'm a member of the swimteam and being a swimmer asks a lot of you. We practice 2 times a day and then we also do dryland, weights and cardio...

I know other swimmers who have done it before, but they would go to bed around 11PM and my body physically can't do that. I go to bed at around 9PM, if it's 10PM it's already late for me.

I'm thinking of minoring in advertising and majoring in Marketing. It was really nice to watch all those commercials during class. It made me look at commercials in a different kind of way.

diversity

Diversity is everywhere... Our team is a good example for that term.

Many girls on our team are from different countries, different cultures and families. Somehow we are all the same in the pool, we want the same, we're training for the same goals,...

One of the girls on the team made a nice map where you can find our name tags where our countries are. The result is fabulous, I really like it. it shows people that a lot of swimmers are foreign.

may I introduce you to my cat!

He's 14 lbs, has a black soft skin, has beautiful green eyes, loves to play,he's the cutest cat you'll ever see. His name is Filou. He's there for you if you need him, he loves to cuddle, especially when it's getting colder...

He comes when my mom calls him, not when we do that because my mom is the only one that feeds him :)

He's about 8 years old now but she still likes to play every once in a while. Whenever he notices that he's losing, he will just walk away....

He loves to catch mices and mols, which is good for our garden. Whenever he caught them, he puts them right in front of our back door, so we would see them.

I seriously love and care about my cat, he's the one that can make me laugh when I had a bad day. He's the one that loves to cuddle and play... I'm really proud of him and I miss him so much when I don't see him a lot.

what door could I open with this key?

This is a card I found on the streets while I was walking to my friend's house. I know it's a hotel key but I'm not sure from where.

I think that it came from a young couple, that wanted to take a break from their busy work and "escape" to another place. Somewhere outside of Texas, like California or so. Where they would relax and do things that they want to do instead of what somebody else's want... It probably fell out their pocket when they got back of the amazing trip because they had to go back to reality...

give me a new hairstyle!

haha, this is just so hillarious. I was getting bored and I realised that our blog is due tuesday (help), so I wanted to create a funny blog. I went online and looked for a website where you can upload your picture and then create a new hairstyle for you. i remember a commercial about it, so today I was on google and looked for that website. Once I started comparing the different hairstyles, I started laughing so hard because some of those don't suit me at all...

The one I uploaded on my blog is the hairstyle of Jennifer Lopez, you can see her picture in the rigth upper corner. Does it look similar to you? I don't think blond hair suits me that well but it was better than the short hairstyles...

At least I had a good laugh!

What you get to know after a 10hours flight...

10hours is a long time, especially if you need to sit down next to somebody during those 10 hours? Let me tell you, I got to know some things about the person who was sitting next to me.

The woman, Debby, who was sitting next to me was on her way to Belgium to see her daughter getting married. Debby was so excited that she was going to see her daughter in a white dress that she couldn' t wait to arrive at Brussels. She told me that she bought her daughter the cutest gift ever, she made her daughter a little picture album. She spend about 2 weeks on that picture album but she said it was worth it. Ofcourse, I just said yes that's so cute, I'm sure she'll like it, but to be honest I had no clue what she was talking about. Untill she showed me the album, it really was pretty. She put baby pictures of her daughter and fiance together and made a really nice album with a lot of text and decoration. I really hope her daughter will love it because she put a lot of time and emotions in it...

I never realized how much a picture album could mean that much to somebody!

advertising is reflecting trends in popular culture

The world today is different than it was a year ago... Not only people change, strategies of advertising agencies change too. As we all know, we're in times of recession now. People are trying to save some money, that's why the strategy of advertisers needs to change as well.

For example, perfume has always been a luxury image. People who bought perfume, must have had some extra money to afford it. During the recession, we can find coupons for perfume... doesn't that just sound funny? a coupon, which has a value of being "cheap", low image on perfume, which represents luxury, high status...

what men think about

I can answer that question in one word: SEX

It's amazing how many times think about sex, it's probably both conscious and unconscious. Tests have been proven that on average a men thinks at least 4 times as much on sex than women do.

With almost everything they do, sex pops into their brain, just like this picture shows. Which I think is just hillarious!

Sascha in Wonderland

When I was a little girl, I LOVED Disney movies, those movies and I were BFF. To be honest, I still like them because they entertain me a lot. Every once in a while, I'm just in the mood to watch 101 dalmatiers or aladin, those movies make me feel like I'm 5 years old again.

I asked my friends what disney character I would be. One friend said that I kind of look like BOO, the little girl in Monster INC and another friend said I would be Alice for the movie Alice in Wonderland.

When i asked her why, she said that I attrack adventure and that I get lost if I'm by myself. Other people make me happy...

a rainbow is a beautiful vision!

Thursday afternoon, I saw one of the strangest rainbows I've ever seen. The rainbow I saw was horizontal, I'm sure that the whole rainbow was there but we could only see a part of it. It was so pretty, it made me realize how important and beautiful nature is.

People often forget that without the nature, we can't survive. it provides us everything we need: water, oxygen, meat, raw material, you call it! I always wanted to do something to protect the nature, help an organization or so. That's why I decided I am going to do something in the near future to prevent pollution, I'm not sure what exactly but it's going to be something big.

freerice.com is a website that donates 10 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program for each answer you get right. This is a great way to help reduce starvation while you're enriching your own vocabulary. This is a website that I visit a lot because English is my second language so this website is a good help for me to enlarge my vocabulary.


over 62 billion grains have been donated so far. I know 10 grains is not a lot but think about it. You can answer about 100 multiple choice questions an hour which would be 1000 grains of rice.

Mcdonalds is every where

Speaking of free media! Friday afternoon was a pretty day, the sun was out and there were a few clouds. We had practice that afternoon and as I was swimming on my back, I started looking at the clouds. After a while, I started seeing a "M" in the sky. It wasn't a perfect m but with some imagination, I saw the "M" of Mcdonalds. I thought it was funny so I told my friends who were swimming in my lane about it, and they saw it too... So we started talking about it and we were getting hungry, or maybe we just wanted a Big Mac.

I wish I took a picture of it because it was pretty, but unfortunately it was during practice and the coach wouldn't have let me take the picture...

the perfect woman... who is she?

Who's the perfect woman? what kind of eyes does she need to be perfect? What type of hair color or haircut does she have? what kind of make up? ....

Many women and men don't know how to describe the "perfect woman". We hear that term every day, we read about it in fashion magazines but there's no definition of " the perfect woman". So I've been thinking about it a lot and I concluded that the perfect woman is different for everybody. Every person has his or her own opinion about what is beautiful... Some men like size 0 where other men prefer size 10. Thank god that the perfect woman can be anybody because if there was only one type that is perfect. Every woman would try to be that person and then everybody would look exactly the same.

iphone gives a new meaning to PING PONG

we all know the game Pingpong, probably we all played it at least once in our life. Now with the iphone, ping pong has a new meaning. The application that is used is Loopt.

This is an application that you can register for, when you do that people can "track" you down from their iphone. When you ping somebody, you can find out where their iphone, and so the person, is at that moment. The person that got pinged needs to pong the sender back to let them know that they can receive the information.

How scary and creepy is that! My friend and I tested it yesterday. A girl on our team said she was on our way to my friend's house, it took her a long time so my friend decided to ping her. Her car was at Kroger, we were like " huh, why would she go to kroger". When she got to my friend's house, she got really excited and said she had a surprise for us. The surprise was that she got ice cream, but we already figured out that it was gonna be food because she went to kroger.

I don't think I would register for that application because it's like somebody is watching you all the time, just like Big Brother. I'm a person that needs her privacy and freedom. Even though they are my friends, I still don't want them to know where I'm at all the time....

it's not about what it's about

Last week, I had to go to CVS to get some stuff for my chocolate mousse. i was biking to snider plaza and all of sudden I saw "Betty Cupcake" from far. It made me want to have a cupcake immediately, but when I passed the store I saw it was a clothing shop. I was really disappointed at that time, but it has been a week and I still remember the store. That was the purpose of the owner of the shop. I actually went inside and talked to the owner. It's a name that people will assume it's a cupcake place, but when they get closer they will see the clothes and realize it. it's a name that nobody will forget because it's so extraordinary...

everybody is talking about TWITTER!

Twitter is a service that was created in august 2006. It a "mini blog" where you can send messages of what you're doing to your friends. In 2008, Twitter increased their customers by 900%, which brings the total to 6 million customers. An insight source, said that Google.com is trying to negotiate with twitter. Google is willing to pay $250 million for Twitter. Twitter is stilling deciding whether they will do it or not because earlier on, Facebook offered Twitter $ 500 million. The reason why Google is interested in Twitter is because of its search technology.

Mad Men

During Ad Club, we all saw an episode of Madman. I never watched that TV show before, so everything was new for me. After a few minutes, I already noticed that smoking and drinking was one of the big habits. Matthew Weiner, the creator of Mad Men, wanted to create an image that depicts of some parts of the American society and culture of the early 1960s, highlighting cigarette smoking, drinking, sexism, adultery and ethnic and racial bias. He wanted to show us the differences between then and now.

Every character in Mad Men smokes multiple cigarettes during every episode, because smoking was far more common in the 1960's than it is now.

skin cancer... my close enemy

I've always been a pale girl, and I know I'll always stay pale.

Being in the sun is pretty dangerous for my skin, because I'll be sun burned in no time. As a swimmer we spend a lot of time outside in the water. My skin is not used to see that much sun, because I'm from Belgium so I never really have to put sunscreen on there. Every thing changed when I got SMU. My skin is really sensitive for the sun and when I forget to put sun screen on, I'll be a lobster for a few days. The past week, the weather hasn't been that good, but it was nice on Monday afternoon. The coach decided that we were going to practice outside. I didn't put any sunscreen on because I thought I wouldn't need it. After our practice I felt that I was sun burned and it just got worse during the evening. I had to take a picture to show you guys! :)

skin cancer can be caused by many things, one of the things is sun burn, and to be honest, my skin has been sun burned many times so I'm sure that skin cancer is a close enemy for me. Of course I hope that I won't get it. My friends and I are joking about the fact that I'll die of skin cancer but I hope it just stays a joke...

trying out something new...

My friend calls me : "one of the most pickiest eaters alive" There are a lot of things that I don't like and so it's hard for my friends to make me something that I like. When I was talking to my mom about it, she agreed with my friend. After that conversation I was kind of upset, so I decided I was going to try something new.

Salads are not one of my favorite dishes but I decided to go crazy so I made a salad with: Spinach, cucumber, mushrooms, tuna, cheese and pineapple... I still sounds really weird but I actually enjoyed it. I'm one of those persons that whatever I eat needs to look good otherwise I won't eat it, so I made it look pretty, just like it was a picture of a cook book.

My point here is that every once in a while you should try something new. Go crazy! Things might sounds weird or funny but actually they're pretty fun or cool...
When I told my friend, she couldn't really believe it. Now she decided that she's gonna take me on a trip to some restaurants and make me try different things that I would NEVER pick by myself.
