advertising agency: Goodby, Silvertstein& partners

Visa - Transactional Fluidity

Others

1. Rethink

Advertiser: Science World
Advertising Agency: Rethink, Vancouver

Best ad for a science museum EVER

Science World is Vancouver's homage to science. Science World is not just for kids with a lot of imagination, adults can have fun there too. When I was younger, I loved going to Museums in Belgium because for some reason I imagined that something crazy would happen or that I went back to time. I know all of this sounds silly but the borderline is that I like this commercial. My favorite line in this commercial is "Ted, you old dog. How's that golf game? " It cracks me up every time I watch this commercial.
Apparently I'm not the only one that loves this commercial, it won bronze at the ad-awards.com last year

2. Droga 5

Advertiser: Unicef
Advertising Agency: Droga 5, New York

This map sets out the relative ‘risk status’ of more than hundred countries in terms of the proportion of the population that have access to safe drinking water and sanitation. UNICEF is trying to make people aware that even though we can complain about our environment, we should think about thousands/millions other people who don't even have access to safe drinking water.

3. Mother

Advertiser: Coca cola
Advertising Agency: Mother

Doesn't this ad just makes you happy... YeahYeahYeah LaLaLa, I love this ad. It reminds me of the happy factory of Coca Cola. They are trying to maintain their child friendly image among individuals. Coca Cola is product used by families and young adults.

4. Strawberry Frog

Advertiser: Heineken
Advertising Agency: Strawberry Frog

Imagine that you are at the register of the grocery store and you see the person in front of you buying the exact same things... how would you feel? Being Stalked? I didn't think this commercial would end with the other girl getting the opener, I thought it would end like a happy ever after movie. Heineken has a lot of good, enjoyable ads that give you a feeling of happiness.

5. Secret Weapon Marketing

Advertiser: Clear
Advertising Agency: Secret Weapon Marketing

In one of my previous blogs about Vodafone, where the man was tapdancing, I mentioned the fact that most of the time, companies will just mention that you can go online wherever you are, this is a perfect example of what I described in that blog. The ad looks pretty but basically they could have just said that you can go online wherever you are. Why would you spend that much money on a 30sec ad if you could have done it in 1 sentence?

6.Wongdoody

Advertiser: Gamefly
Advertising agency: Wongdoody

Do you remember how the people reacted when Burgerking stopped selling the Whopper for one day during their campaign? Doesn't this remind you of that? I think it does....

7. AMV/BBDO

Advertiser: The Economist
Advertising Agency: AMV/BBDO, London

The economist has a lot of good print ads , but this is the first TV commercial I've seen of the economist. At home(Belgium) we say that " The red line will guide you through the book". This is translated literally, and I've no clue whether they say this is America or not but it's funny to apply it to this ad. The economist is a newspaper that guides people through things that happen in the world.

8. Jung Von Matt

Advertiser: V&S Vin & spirit
Advertising Agency: Jung Von Matt, Sweden
Brand Name: Absolute Vodka

The title of this video is calles Absolute Vodka

Absolut Vodka = TWBA

so what's the deal? Honestly, I'm not completely sure what this is about? I mean I know it's about mixing drinks with vodka but Absolute Vodka is hold by TBWA not Jung Von Matt..

Large Independents

1. Dentsu

Advertiser: Lexus
Advertising Agency: Dentsu, Canada

This is the first time I saw this ad, but at first I thought it was some individual who was playing around on their computer and created this, but it’s actually a real ad. Every sound has a different image, when you combine different sounds you create this sweet video.

2. Wieden + kennedy:

Who said W+K couldn’t do anything else than nike ads. This is an interactive ad for a card company. During Christmas time, many people send out Christmas cards. They took it in a different kind of way and created the “Christmas Card Making Machine”, which is an over-sized Christmas Card display in the streets of London. When people stand in the footprints outside the window, the installation will take a picture and uses their face on one of the characters shown on the Christmas card.

3. BBH

Advertiser: Vodafone
Advertising Agency: BBH, London

It shows how fast and easy the wireless of Vodafone is and how fast you can download a song wherever you are. I didn't really pay any attention to the product at all, I just loved the way he tapdanced :) that was pretty impressive. For once, a cellular company didn't just show where you can get internet, it actually showed us what we can do once we have the internet.

4. The Richards Group

I'm in love with Chick fil a, I eat it a lot! I really like how they used the cows to advertise chicken. This is probably one of their best ads for Chick Fil a.

5. Doner

UPS is pushing their packaging products and services in a campaign of animated/live action television commercials. UPS comes to the rescue time and time again in a world of cardboard. Each of the spots finishes with a live action friendly UPS store attendant reassuring his female customer, “We do a lot more than shipping". This ad also reminded me of the movie Gladiator.

6. Kramer-Krasselt

MDC

1. Crispin Porter + Bogusky

Advertiser: Microsoft 7
Advertising Agency: Crispin Porter + Bogusky

Microsoft 7 is the latest invention of microsoft for the pc. The fact that they used the first part of the apple TV commercials "I'm a mac, and I'm a PC", was ridiculous. Why would they take a part of the campaign of apple? In that campaign Apple is basically making fun of PC anyway.

2. VitroRobertson

Advertiser: Taylor Guitars
Advertising Agency: VitroRobertson

Both ads are for the same instrument but different brands. Both ads are done by different agencies, the first one by VitroRobertson while John ST did the second one.

Selling a guitar is more than just the instrument; it’s about the sounds that lead your imagination, that guide you. Both print ads could have been more creative. Maybe they could have shown a scenario where a family comes together by music.

3. Cliff Freeman & Partners

Advertiser: Quixi Web help
Advertising Agency: Cliff Freeman & Partners

Do you need help? Go the the Quixi Web help and they will give you an answer for everything, including for what we see in this ad… Who would put their baby in the sink next to the dishes?

4. Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners

Advertiser: TAG energy drink
Advertising Agency: Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners

I really like the fact that this TAG Energy drink isn’t really about the Energy Drank itself, it shows a girl who loves shopping, she might even be obsessed. The tagline: “Next to shoes, men are a girls’s favor accessory” For once, men are seen as an accessory/ object. Normally it’s always the women who are see like sex objects. If you look at the shopping bags she has, she must have had a lot of energy to go shopping, maybe the TAG energy drink created this?

Havas

1. Arnold Worldwide

Advertiser: Hershey
Advertising Agency: Arnold Worldwide, New York

Hershey did the exact same thing as Coca Cola commercial done by Wieden+ Kennedy. Everything is about the same, especially the last part before it goes to the little kid that the other Hershey chocolates are cheering that one specific chocolate on and then it goes to the customer. It looks nice and it’s funny but, if you’ve seen the coca cola ad, I still like that one a lot more than the Hershey ad.

2. Euro RSCG

Advertiser: The sun(newspaper)
Advertising agency: Euro RSCG, London

This ad for the SUN newspaper isn’t really about the newspaper itself, it’s about bringing people together. There’s nothing better than waking up on Sunday morning, sitting at the dining table with the whole family, eating breakfast and reading the newspaper.

3. McKinney

Advertiser: Partnership for a drug-free America
Advertising Agency: McKinney, Durham

If you would see this is reality, than there’s definitely something wrong with you. Then maybe you need to stop using drugs if it came to that point. Partnership for a drug-free America has some other good ads that really shows that it’s dangerous not just yourself but also for the people who are close to you. If you know something who’s been a heavy user, please stop them before it’s too late.

Publicis Group

1. Publicis

Advertiser: Xeroprint
Advertising Agency: Publicis, Zurich

At first I thought this was an ad for colgate or crest. But when I saw that the advetiser was Xeroprint it took me a while to figure out why they would use a toothbrush in their ad. Finally, I realized that they are trying to show that when you print something of, in this case a toothbrush, you will see every little detail you need/want.

2. Saatchi & Saatchi

advertiser: Skof
Advertising Agency: Saatchi & Saatchi, Auckland

How can this ad make you want to go buy skof chips. Borderline talent? This ad makes me think that skof chips makes you fart a lot. Why would anybody buy it then? Apparently this campaign encouraged people to upload videos of their “borderline talents”

Creative agency Saatchi & Saatchi describes the concept as giving the “average Joe” a chance to showcase “their pointless skills - not traditional talents”. Why would you do that?

3. Leo Burnett

Advertiser: AE Investimentos
Advertising Agency: Leo Burnett, Brazil

Not only is Dali being used as inspiration to advertise cars, but he is also having an influence by investment companies. Under the tagline “Don’t be lost in the weird world of investment”, Leo Burnett used Dali’s most well know painting as reference in adds for an investment company. Buying a painting is an investment, which fits perfect in this picture.

4. Fallon Worldwide

Advertiser: Holliday Inn Express
Advertising Agency: Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis

The Holiday Inn didn’t have a good reputation among individuals; they would use the word “Holliday Inn” as a slang word referring to a cheap hotel with small dishes. The word “Holliday Inn” would be used in songs by famous rappers as a negative thing, which didn’t help the hotel chain at all. They responded by making their own rap commercials. Even though I’m not a big fan of rap, I think that these commercials will give a boost to the image of the Holliday Inn.

5. Kaplan Thaler Group

Advertiser:
Advertising Agency: Kaplan Thaler group

The only thing I want to say about this ad is that it looks cool. It doesn’t really show anything about the cleaning product. They don’t show a before/after image like every other cleaning product. Who knows maybe the product can’t get the dirt of that plate?

6. Team one Advertising

Advertiser: Lexus
Advertising Agency: Team one Advertising

It’s not about what you see; it’s about how you see it in perspective. This is the first car ad that doesn’t show what the car can do. For example, how it can speed up or how save it is. Team one advertising decided to do something different this time. They want us to look at the whole car, how it looks, how it drives, how safe it is. We need to consider all these things before we may conclude that this is the perfect car.

Interpublic

1. McCann Erickson

advertiser: Casa Do Menor
Advertising Agency: McCann Erickson

McCann Erickson used some similar campaign like the commercial against abused children by Saatchi & Saatchi. Sexual abuse among children is horrible and cannot be justified. Both ads give the same message, which is that children suffer from a sexual abuse experience. When that happens to a child, it’s hard, almost impossible to fully recover from that.

The tagline of the McCann Erickson ad “sexual abuse can be a heavy burden on children.
The tagline of Saatchi & Saatchi: Abused children can’t speak up!

2. The Martin Agency

Advertiser: The Martin Agency
Advertising Agency: The Martin Agency

This is an ad created by The Martin Agency to promote their own agency.

The tagline is: “Ad agencies are good at recycling ideas. Let’s get to work on everything else"

I understand what they are trying to say but they could have done a better job at it. The point they are trying to make is that other advertising agencies, copy ideas from other agencies or within their own agency, but from a different product. The Martin Agency doesn’t do that, they try to create a new and unique campaign for every single client they have.

But….

What is “EVERYTHING ELSE”???? This is the problem I have with this ad. How are individuals getting the point if we don’t really know what goes on among advertising agencies?

3. TM advertising ( don’t like the comment I made)

Advertiser: American Airlines
Advertising Agency: TM advertising, Dallas

American Airlines knows why we fly…. Pretty creepy! I’m not a big fan of American Airlines but with this ad they are saying that they want the best for their customers so that they feel comfortable and will become frequent flyers with American Airlines. Nowadays, people in the US travel by plane frequently because it is convenient and inexpensive

4. DraftFCB

Advertiser: Chips Ahoy
Advertising Agency: DraftFCB

Who doesn’t like Chips Ahoy? From the moment I saw the ad, I knew it was based on the movie: “Rocky”. DraftFCB tries to link the Chips Ahoy cookies to the same image they have about Rocky: a fighter, never gives up, aperosn who stands up for himself,….” This ad didn’t really work for me but I had fun watching it, so at least it caught my eye.

5. Lowe

Advertiser: Stella Artois
Advertising Agency: London & Toronto

Stella Artois isn’t just any kind of beer. It has a history of proud and respect among generations. This ad shows that life isn’t about winning or being the best, it’s about family and friends being together. Why wouldn’t you drink a Stella Artois while you’re doing that?

6. Carmichael Lynch

Advertiser: Harley Davidson
Advertising Agency: Carmichael Lynch, Minneapolis

Tagline: Harley-Davidson soundtrack. When you speed up you’ll start listening to it.

A Harley Davidson motorcycle isn’t just any motorcycle! It creates a new life for the driver from the moment he steps on the pedal. You’re in heaven from the moment you start the engine because the sound of a Harley Davidson gives you butterflies and it makes you feel like you’re reliving your childhood again.

7. Hill Holliday

Advertiser: Dunkin Donuts
Advertising Agency: Hill Holliday

Let’s speak Fritalian! Say what?

With this advertisement they are assuming American people are dumb and don’t know how to pronounce any of these words. Isn’t America the melting pot of different cultures? Why would Dunkin Donuts try to change it by trying to eliminate these cultural differences? I understand that donuts are an American thing but coffee comes from around the world, so why would you change the origin of it? DD is basically mocking with Starbucks because they use foreign names for their products offered. Not cool DD!

8. Deutsch

Advertiser: Tylenol
Advertising Agency: Deutsch

Just like any ad for a pain medicine, this is not any different. I know that it's hard to express pain relief by taking the medicine but maybe for once someone could be creative enough to do that. I can't wait for that day to come.

9. Mullen

Advertiser: CSX
Advertising Agency: Mullen, New York

A new CSX TV spot developed by Mullen emphasizes the fact that the CSX trains are using less fuel, which is better for the environment and will give the people for oxygen to breath in. The only sound you’ll hear during this ad is people taking deep breaths in different situations. I really like the idea of presenting this benefit to the people. Other agencies probably would have just mentioned those benefits but nothing else.

10. Campbell Mithun

Advertiser: partnership for a drug free America
Advertising Agency: Campbell Mithun, Minneapolis

Just like the advertising agency McKinney, Campbell Mithun is working together with the partnership of drug free America to make teenagers, adults aware of what drugs does for you. I like the fact that many agencies work on this account because it's something crucial and different agencies will see this problem in a different perspective. This means that the different agencies will also create different kind of ads in order to reach a more diverse population.

11. TAG S.F

Advertiser: xbox
Advertising Agency: TAG, San Fransisco

Even though this ad has nothing to do with the patato heads created by The Richards Group during the 2009 Superbowl, it was the first thing I had to think of. I really enjoyed this ad because it’s funny, but not foolish. It took a while to figure out what product was being advertised but in the end when the lips and the man were doing karaoke the copy explained everything. FYI, I Love this song!

WPP

1. Ogilvy & Mather

Advertiser: WWF
Advertising Agency: Ogilvy & Mather, India

We live in a world where humans and animals are present. We need each other in order to stay in balance and survive. Ogilvy & Mather created this really creative, it’s not just pretty, and people will get this message immediately. Animals can’t do anything to help us but we can help them. By donating a small amount of money, we can give them a better place to live and protect them against natural catastrophes. This would help reducing the mass extension of unique animals.

2. Young & Rubicam

Advertiser: NCAA
Advertising Agency: Young & Rubicam, San Fransisco

Y&R tries to show people with this ad that NCAA can find the perfect balance between sports and academics. They set standards based on performance on and off the field. For example, student athletes need at least a 2.0 average GPA in order to compete within the NCAA competition. Being a student-athlete myself, I understand that not everybody who’s a member of the 400,000 student athletes in NCAA will make it to the top. There’s only a very small percentage that will go professional. NCAA realizes that and that’s why they emphasize education too.

3. JWT

Same brand, same agency, different strategies!

Different types of products need different advertising strategies in order to sell. I found 3 ads that JWT created for Levi Jeans. Even though, all 3 ads promote jeans, they still have a different strategy according to the kind of jeans they are trying to sell. For example, the target audience for the skinny jeans will be women who want a pair of jeans that will make them look really skinny, while the first ad shown is about the fact that Levi Jeans are affordable and really comfortable.

4. Grey Advertising

Advertiser: Toshiba
Advertising Agency: Grey London

Toshiba’s commitment of staying ahead of the competitors!

At first, you wouldn’t think that this is an ad for Toshiba. The fact that I couldn’t put a brand on this commercial made it really special. Toshiba creates curiosity among viewers, which encourages the fact that Toshiba tries to keep the commitment of staying ahead of the competitors. In the beginning I thought that computers did everything, but that wasn’t true. These are real people and with the right techniques they created this repetition act. Very impressive!

The OMNICOM group

1. BBDO

VS.

Advertiser: Mercedes Benz
Advertising Agency: Colenso BBDO, Auckland, New Zealand

When I saw the Mercedes ad, the first thing that crossed my mind was the “Think Small” ad for the VW Beetle by DDB. These are 2 different cars with a different brand image. For example, when someone would say the word “Mercedes”, you would say: expensive, while for VW it could be a family car. Both agencies used the same ad composition. The background is grey, the copy is in columns, and there are not a lot of images on the ad.

2. DDB

Advertiser: VW
Advertising agency: DDB London

A car is something we need everyday. We drive to work, to the grocery store, to the Movie Theater, mall, restaurants… We basically take our car whenever we want to go somewhere. This ad reminds us that a user-friendly car is something that we must have in our lives. The special effect in this ad is that all the sounds the car makes create a nice tune that attracts the consumer’s attention.

3. TBWA

Advertiser: The lung association
Advertising Agency: TBWA/Vancouver

Do I need to explain this message to you? I don’t think so! Lung cancer is a serious and sensitive issue in our society. Normally, ad agencies create a story about the effects of smoking and what it can do to your body and blablablablabla. TBWA took another path in getting people’s attention. They realized that whenever they put a caution sign on the cigarette’s packets, it increases the sale of cigarettes. For that reason, TBWA created this tagline that will shake people up.

4. Goodby Silverstein: Ice cream and honeybees?

Help the Honey bees: Haagen-Dazs

4 reasons why they product for me:
A) If you think about ice cream, you don’t associate it with honeybees
B) The outfits and dance moves of this video clip were pretty childish
C) The music annoyed me after 10 sec and it kept going on and on.
D) This commercial doesn’t make me want to eat Haagen-Dazs ice cream at all.

5. 180 Amsterdam/180 LA

If you see this picture you think it’s cool but not that creative. Any person who can work well with a computer can replicate this, but if you read the entire story behind this one picture, and watch the video on the website of 180 Amsterdam. You understand the process of how this picture was created and why they did this. It was specifically designed for the 2003 Rugby World Cup. Like many other sports brands, Adidas is often seen as a company that just makes shoes you can do sport in. But, the truth is that it’s so much more than that. 180 wanted to try something new to show the people that Adidas is so much more than the clothes; they really care about their athletes.

Photos found on : http://www.epica-awards.com/pages/pastresults2003_epicador_press.html

6. GSD&M Idea City, USA

Title: The art of driving

Advertiser: BMW
Advertising Agency, GSD& M/ Idea City

VS.

For the first time ever, BMW decided not to paint the cars, but to use the car as a paintbrush. BMW has a history where artists such as Andy Warhol, Frank Stella and Roy Lichtenstein use the car as their canvas. When I first saw this ad, I didn’t understand it at all. Why would a car commercial be about a car leaving paint marks on a big piece of paper? Once you know the story behind it, you understand that for once, they tried something differently and I must say: I like the result!

7. Dieste Harmel & Partners

Advertiser: Clorox Bleach
Advertising Agency: Dieste Harmel, San Francisco

Dieste Harmel & Partners is an agency that does a lot of ads in Spanish, just like this ad for Clorox Bleach. By using both animation and live actors, Dieste Harmel & partners created an almost magical feeling at the beginning of the ad, but also connected that magic to real life and it’s practical uses. This ad is very similar to some other Clorox ads. For example, the commercial where a young girl becomes a mermaid in the bathtub, but emerges to see her mother doing laundry. This strategy gives its viewer a comfortable and pleasant feeling.

8. Latin Works:

Nobody wants to be obese at any point in their life. These ads are trying to remind parents that the percentage of child obesity is increasing exponentially. Parents can reduce this by making sure their children exercise and eat healthy. What would it be if the superheroes like Barbie and superman would be obese and lazy? Would they still be considered as a superhero?

9. Martin/Williams

Advertiser: Hoover
Advertising Agency: Martin/Williams Minneapolis

All Vacuum cleaner ads are showing the consumers what the benefits are of this vacuum cleaner over another brand. I mean, what else could they say to convince people? Basically, vacuum cleaners only have 1 purpose and that is to pick up all the dust. Hoover’s had the same message, but presented it in a more creative way.

we've been having it!

Advertiser: Vodacom
Agency: Draftfcb Johannesburg

This is ad my friend showed to me because it's so hillarious... When I watched it for the first time, it made me laugh so badely. I really want to know from where they got the idea to present the new vodacom phone like that. Apparently it was a big hit in South Africa, people bought the phone immediately. Basically, presenting the new features of the phone in a funny situation, made increase profits exponentially...

...adverting as an art...

- What is art? How would you describe art? Can you explain what art is for you in 5 adjectives? I wouldn’t be able to do it because for me art is explained differently among many situations. Sometimes I would call something art when I think the result we see is beautiful, unexpected or just different.
Advertising can be an art sometimes. Here are 5 example that I call ART but who am I to put the stamp of art on it?

1. Advertiser: playstation 2
Agency: BBDO Chile

This ad was produced by Playstation in 2007 as an advertisement for their new product for the Playstation 2: Rubik’s Cube. We all know how a rubik’s cube works, so thanks to digital editing, the face of the model resembles a Rubik’s Cube. Even though, the Rubik’s Cube is an older toy, it’s still fun for children right now, especially played on the PSP 2. This aspect of the rubik's cube being an older toy is given by the background: the room where they young male sits is pretty old and dark, which resembles old.

Advertiser: Discovery Channel
Agency: Mother London

This ad probably caught my attention because I’m a swimmer. Surprisingly, this is an ad for Discovery Channel. This sculpture is 35feet long and was in front of Potter’s Field at Tower Bridge for a promotional campaign featuring the celebrity tattoo artist Louis Malloy. I really like the idea of putting the swimmer in the grass, really creative. If I can critic on it just a little bit, I would have changed the angle of his elbow because his hand is too close to his head. I make this critic because I'm a swimmer and normally people put their hands in the water further away from the head...

Advertiser: Adidas
Agency: TBWA Germany

Surprise, Surprise,… Who would have thought that when Adidas asked for something unexpected that will welcome FIFA World Cup 2006 in Munich they would have got this result? TBWA accomplished this task really good. They build a 65meter statue above the highway where everybody had to pass to enter Munich.

4. Advertiser: Nike
Agency: Wieden + Kennedy

URL:

These are all real sounds during a certain basketball game. Nike is trying to sell something more than the shoes, like the lifestyle, values and beliefs that come with the shoes. When I close my eyes and just listen to the soundtrack, I’ve the feeling I’m at a different place where I feel safe.

5. Advertiser: Honda
Agency: Wieden + Kennedy

- Everything started of with a single Cog…wauw, that was the first word that crossed my mind. I was speechless for a second. I know that the commercial was 2min but Wieden+Kennedy used that time to tell a story to the consumers. Everything that was showed during the commercial are all parts of the Honda Accord.
With this commercial, Wieden+Kennedy tried to give Honda a more consumer-friendly image which definitely succeeded.

It's time to be ethical and responsible!

A. 3 ads that promote a product in a responsible way

1.

Advertiser: Dove
Ad Agency: Ogilvy & Mather, Toronto

This dove commercial is trying to show that we live in a world of unreality, a world of plastic surgeries and eating disorders. When girls are young they get exposed to his world by magazines, TV, or just peers. Dove is trying to show the consumers that there’s no world of perfection. Everybody looks different and every person has something they don’t like about themselves, but that shouldn’t be a reason to change the person you are. Dove is trying to show the population that inner and natural beauty is important and that everybody is beautiful in the way they are.

This commercial is a good example for the population and the reputation of Dove, but not everybody knows that Dove and Axe are owned by the same company… How funny is that, they basically have a controversy within their own company! Dove is all about the inner beauty, while Axe is something that will get you all the ladies you want…

2.

Product : SONY Corporate Image
Agency : Saatchi & Saatchi, Sydney

Sony Australia decided to celebrate the fact that they committed to offset all carbon emissions caused by their corporate travel. They celebrated it in a creative way, they worked together with Landcare Australia and Saatchi & Saatchi to create several grass cars. They then distributed those cars across Sydney. Even though, Sony doesn’t sell cars as their product, they are still trying to remind customers that we need to take care of the environment, and that they are trying to do their share by offsetting all carbon emissions caused by their corporate travel. I think this is a create idea to promote the decision they made. I’m sure it also made people realize that when Sony can help the environment, they can do their share too.

3.

Advertiser = PUR
Ad agency = TBWA chiat Day, Los Angeles

If water had had a voice, this would be one of the things it would say. TBWA chiat day created this idea because they want to attract people to stop buying bottled water. Water tastes about the same whether you filter it or buy it in bottles.
The only thing bottled water do is destroy our environment. I really like the print ad because it’s funny but they made a point. People buy a lot of bottled water while at the same time they could just buy a water filter.

B. 3 ads that promote a social issue/cause in a responsible way

1.

Avertiser: AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL
Agency: LOWE/GGK
Country: Poland

Women abuse is a horrible topic, especially when you're a woman yourself. Talking about this ad makes me sad because I know that this is something that happens to so many women all over the world. In most cases, the victims will keep it as a secret because they are scared. This ads tries to convince people that they can help, but you've to make the first step in order to solve this problem. I really like the ad, especially the copy because it's true: they haven't just broken her heart... they represented this issue in a creative way

2.

advertiser: Blue shield of California
Ad agency: Taxi, New York

Apparently, there are millions of people in California who are uninsured. These naked statues represent the uninsured residents. They are really vulnerable to anything. Blue Shield of California is trying to make this point clear to its residents. Health insurance is necessary.

3.

Avertiser: domestic violence
Agency: SAATCHI & SAATCHI Singapore

We live in a world where verbal communication evolved exponentially, especially with myspace, twitter, facebook,... This of course means that verbal violence is increasing too. Verbal violence might not be exactly like physical but they have some common characters. People, especially younger people, don't really realize how you can hurt an individual by just using words. I hope this ad made people think twice before they would use verbal violation, because words can hurt too.

C. 3 ads that are socially/ ethically irresponsible

1.

Chocolate condoms – before/after
Agency: DDB Group, Belgium

I came across this ad when I was trying to find some ads of DDB Belgium because I'm from there and I wanted to see if I could maybe do an internship this summer. Every body does some research of the company they want to work for and when I saw this ad I was kind of shocked. For me, this is an irresponsible way to advertise something that is supposed to be responsible. It's good that they are advertising condoms but I'm sure they could have advertised the chocolate condom in an other way.

creativity is just not for me!

I really enjoyed this class, but i realised that creative advertising is not going to be for me. It's not that I wouldn't like it, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be good enough. It's so time consuming and right now I don't really have the time. I'm a member of the swimteam and being a swimmer asks a lot of you. We practice 2 times a day and then we also do dryland, weights and cardio...

I know other swimmers who have done it before, but they would go to bed around 11PM and my body physically can't do that. I go to bed at around 9PM, if it's 10PM it's already late for me.

I'm thinking of minoring in advertising and majoring in Marketing. It was really nice to watch all those commercials during class. It made me look at commercials in a different kind of way.

diversity

Diversity is everywhere... Our team is a good example for that term.

Many girls on our team are from different countries, different cultures and families. Somehow we are all the same in the pool, we want the same, we're training for the same goals,...

One of the girls on the team made a nice map where you can find our name tags where our countries are. The result is fabulous, I really like it. it shows people that a lot of swimmers are foreign.
